Road to Giving: Supporting SOAR Special Needs
At Lee’s Summit Honda, giving back to our community is an important part of what we do. This quarter, we’re proud to support SOAR Special Needs, a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities and the families who support them find connection, opportunity, and encouragement within their communities.
Why This Cause Matters to Us
Individuals with disabilities make up about 26% of the U.S. population, making them the largest minority group in the country. Organizations like SOAR Special Needs play an important role in creating opportunities, support systems, and inclusive spaces where individuals with disabilities can connect and grow.
At the heart of SOAR’s culture is a simple but powerful idea: “Be A Friend.” Their programs help individuals discover their strengths, build friendships, and gain confidence while exploring new opportunities.
Through social clubs, community events, classes, readiness workshops, arts programs, and recreational activities, SOAR helps individuals develop life skills, explore potential career paths, build independence, and connect with others in meaningful ways.
How You Can Help
From now until June 30th, every customer has the opportunity to contribute:
- Vehicle Purchases: For every vehicle purchased during the campaign, Lee’s Summit Honda will donate $10 to SOAR Special Needs.
- Parts & Service Rounding Up: When visiting our Parts or Service Department, customers can choose to round up their total to the nearest dollar, with all additional proceeds donated directly to SOAR.
- Direct Donations: Community members who would like to make an additional impact can also donate directly to SOAR Special Needs. Direct contributions help support programs like SOAR Camp and other opportunities that empower individuals with disabilities and their families.
About SOAR Special Needs
SOAR stands for Special, Opportunities, Abilities, and Relationships. Their mission is to transform the lives of special families and empower them to thrive in their local and faith communities.
Through programs focused on social connection, personal development, and community engagement, SOAR creates meaningful experiences that help individuals with disabilities grow in confidence while building lasting relationships.
One of the organization’s most impactful programs is SOAR Camp, a summer day camp hosted and operated by SOAR Special Needs for individuals ages 3 and up with disabilities. Each summer, hundreds of campers are paired with dedicated volunteers for a week of activities, friendships, and experiences designed to build confidence, independence, and meaningful community connections while also providing families with valuable respite support.
